Good news came out of the Malaysian high court yesterday regarding the political imbroglio in Perak. The court reinstated Pakatan Rakyat's leader, Nizar Jamaluddin, as the Chief Minister and nullified the appointment of BN's man, Zambry Abd. Kadir. The next step is for Nizar to call for the dissolution of the state assembly and hold fresh state-wide elections, which will most likely be won by the Opposition.
I'm glad that the Malaysian democratic system, however flawed it is, managed to correct itself in the end and return the power back to its rightful place: the people. It's also heartening to see the Federal court beginning to assert its independence as a countervailing force after being a stooge for the executive branch for so long.
We'll see what other dirty tactics UMNO has up on its sleeve but for the time being it's score one for the Opposition and a major victory for democracy in Malaysia.

Court of Appeal has granted Zambry a stay of execution. Meaning he remains MB until his appeal is heard. Ape citer ah? And Zambry is a downright hypocrite. saying that Nizar should accept the decision. And y didnt he accept the Mahkamah Tinggi's ruling that Nizar is the legitimate MB? Kenapa nak appeal? And he dares say that Pakatan gila kuasa sampai masuk ofis at 715 am this morning. Padahal BN yg gile kuasa nak rampas Perak yg opposition menang with a slim majority. setahun pun tak sampai lagi. Try doing that la in Penang, and especially Kelantan. Even Selangor pun, diorang tgh cuba nak jatuhkan Khalid Ibrahim with all the allegations of corruption. In his blog today, siap he likens himself and his struggle to Mandela and Gandhi. Mandela and Gandhi tegakkan truth and justice. Zambry pulak all lies and nak pertahankan illegal takeover of the government. How i wish i'm a Perakian right now..hahah with all my comments here, i could have written my own blog post..hahahah. cheers mate!
The Court of Appeal is done fucking up for sure. It has no sound legal basis whatsoever to issue the stay of execution order and thus contradicting the High Court's decision. This is a temporary setback for sure but the Court of Appeals has to deal with this constitutional crisis sooner or later. I'm curious to see what legal reasoning the pro-BN appellate judges will use to re-install the illegal BN gov't back in Perak. Constitutionally speaking, every reasoning is in favor of Nizar and the PR gov't. The appellate judges can make a decision that contravenes the one from the High Court and most likely risks another political standoff, widespread demos and mass arrests like the May 7 fiasco in the state assembly.
yep, it sends chills down my spine when he talks about how "democratic" this illegal BN takeover is. and comparing himself to the great freedom fighters of modern times like gandhi and mandela is just sheer ignorance and self-deluding hubris. it insults the memory of people who died from fighting for independence from the white colonial masters. how can he be a freedom fighter when he is a member of the same hegemonic establishment that oppresses the people? "pangkor pele" is out of his fucking mind!
there you go...my two cent worth of reply! could have written another post though... LOL!
