I'm sorry, 51 percent of the American voting population is simply STUPID! What kind of reality do you people live in? Is this some kind of a bizarro world where everything is the total opposite of what it really is? Am I missing anything here? You people are sheeps--consumed with irrational fears and willingly to be led to the slaughterhouse. I feel like an idiot for having faith in the intelligence and the clear-mindedness of the American public to make the right choice. Not that Kerry is a much better choice but by giving Bush the majority of the votes means validating his performance in the past four years and the chance to continue his misguided policies for another four years. It means the continuance of the American imperial hubris and arrogance abroad, the rapid destruction of the environment, more giveaways to the rich and powerful, the fast shrinking of the middle-class, the worsening conditions of the lower-class, the tearing down of the wall between religion and state and the last but not least, the lies and deceits that need to be (and have been) orchestrated in order to pursue this regressive policies.
In the cold comfort offered by Brad at four in the morning after resigning to the fact of an impending Bush's win: "We're simply way too smart to vote in this country." What boggles me, if this is correct, is that the exit polls showed that the issues that were on the top of the voters' mind in Ohio (which happened to be the most contentious state in this election) were morality and terrorism. See, this is what happened when people just bought into the politics of fear hook, line and sinker. Morality, my ass! Fuck all these right-wing, Bible-thumping Christian fundamentalist nutcases with their holier-than-thou attitude and black-and-white Manichaean view of the world. These people are no different than any other religious zealots that they claim to hate. First, please answer this one question for me: How does engaging in lies and deceits that results in untold deaths and destruction of the humankind makes a person moral? If you ask me, this is the kind of person Bush is and he doesn't look all that moral to me. Well, these so-called "righteous" people who claim to be highly moralistic also strongly supportive of the illegal wars that kill tens of thousands of civilians, the death penalty system that is inherently racist and blatantly oblivious to justice, sexual abstinence program in place of family planning and preventive measures programs that can help stem the AIDS pandemic and the exploitative capitalist system that benefits the rich and preys on the poor, and all the while fervently oppose to abortion and the woman's right to choose. Using their warped logic, it is okay to kill certain people but not others. Certain lives have more value than others. These people claim to be doing this all in the name of Jesus but if Jesus is here right now, he'd be utterly appalled by the level of carnage and plunderance perpetrated in his name. Believe me, Jesus would be joining us "liberal pansies" marching down the street protesting all these grave injustices!
On the issue of terrorism, don't these people realize that they have been bamboozled by Bush's propaganda that there are terrorists lurking in every neighborhood just waiting for the right moment to strike. Isn't it seems a little ironic when the people who are living in places that were actually attacked by these terrorists--New York City and Washington, DC--voted overwhelmingly for Kerry and the people who live in the no man's land in Middle America voted overwhelmingly for Bush? Are these people in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and other red states afraid of Al-Qaeda detonating nuclear bomb in the middle of their beloved cornfields? Or maybe, in the case of the Southern states, North Korea launching an inter-continental ballistic missile targeting their trailer parks and gator farms? Geez, people! Get a fucking grip! Seriously, ask yourself this: Has the world been any safer since 9/11? The answer is a resounding NO if you're too stupid to answer this question. Bush has generated more hate and antagonism against US around the world than any other President in American history. Take a little risk and try to venture out of your safe little suburban coccoon and experience it for yourself. There's no guarantee that you would not get beheaded though!
The simple question is why do the majority of the Americans see the world differently than the rest of the world? Please don't tell me that you're so much better than the rest of us and that you are endowed with a manifest destiny from the Providence to lead the world. That was what every empire in the long history of the world had said and each and every one of them had failed ever so gloriously. American empire, beware!
On a side-note, Wisconsin squeezed into the Democratic column with Kerry winning the state by the margin of over 10,000 votes, which is almost double than what Al Gore had four years ago. Senator Russ Feingold was re-elected convincingly for his third term with 55 percent of the votes and my Congresswoman, Ms. Gwen Moore, won the 4th Congressional district with an eye-popping 72 percent of the votes. Like I said before, Wisconsinites are smart and independent people and they know how to make the right choices. But still the world is in great peril and the fate of world peace hangs in a tenuous balance as Bush and his minions will continue to extend the tentacles of the American empire and wrought more destruction for the next four years. I simply shudder to think what will happen next. According to the wise Sham Rais in his MalaysiaKini column, Bush's win will further galvanize the world into a mass global revolution that will dismantle the machinery of the American empire and topple the capitalist system that sustains it. Dude, I sure hope you're right...
