We meet again, Mr. Bond!

Today I finally get to meet my lovely "The Methods of Political Research" instructor, Dr. Tatyana Karaman. Yes, it's her class that I was complaining about in the previous post. She might not look and sound as bitchy as I thought she would be but she does seem to have this aura of supreme authority enveloping her like a velvety cloak. She seems nice enough--in a Russian dominatrix sort-of-way. In fact, I wrote the same exact answer--a Russian dominatrix--on the course's survey form in response to a question about our first impression of her. Fortunately the survey form is highly confidential, or maybe not. I should definitely stop by her office one of these days just to confirm my suspicions. This naturally begs the question: "Would I be willing to be spanked by her leather whip in order to make the grade jump, say, from A- to A?" One has to admit it's tempting, though, and it's a fantasy I'm willing to entertain for now. Maybe she'll fess up after a few shots of Stolichnaya.

The first image that comes to my mind when I first saw her was a scene from one of the James Bond's movie (I forgot which one) when Bond was captured by his lover-turned-villain Russian counter-agent and she immediately said to him in a husky yet perversely sexy voice, "We meet again, Mr. Bond," in a Russian-accented English. "So, how should I kill you today, Mr. Bond? Beheading by The Logic of The Analysis of Variance? Or, the slow death from Least-squares Multiple Regression Line? Or maybe you prefer the burning at stake by The Limitations of the Chi Square Test?" Anyway, I do like her despite her overly-inquisitive teaching approach--it's not even the Socratic method or the law school for god's sake--and her very dry Russian humor. I have a good feeling about this class.

It's the softer side of me that I rarely show to the outside world.
